Junior Facilities Technician

Job Title: Junior Facilities Technician

Reports To: Facilities and Capital Projects Manager

SUMMARY 

The Facilities Technician is responsible for the repairs and maintenance of all facilities within a geographical region, acting as the contact for emergencies that affect EPL Properties Limited and their clients’ ability to open for business, maintain safe working standards and aesthetics. Additionally, the Facilities Technician will assess and consider daily:

  1. the safety of the environments under their remit
  2. the security of EPL’s assets 
  3. the service to our customers.

This position communicates with the Facilities Manager for the coordination of outside contractors or vendors for various services if necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts routine inspections of all plant, equipment, and buildings.
  • Performs repairs and servicing of plant and equipment as required.
  • Aid in maintaining Preventative and Predictive Maintenance.
  • Makes recommendations for the alleviation of recurring corrective maintenance.
  • Assists in the installation of plant and equipment.
  • Requests parts/consumables and other items required for maintenance activity.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate records and files relating to plant and equipment.
  • Identifies and recommends the acquisition of resources required for effective and efficient delivery of services within the organization and to clients as a first line report to Supervisory official.
  • Transports goods, equipment, tools to conduct assignments as required.
  • Performs any other duties within the general area of responsibility.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must be able to effectively communicate (oral and written) with all employees, contractors, and vendors.
  • Self-starter and team player. 
  • Must be organized and provide deliverables in support of project plans. 
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions. 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multi-functional tasks. 
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, and against strict time constraints.
  • Ability to use standard powered and non-powered tools.
  • Highly accountable for works given with minimal oversight.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

  1. Multi-skilled: Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in electrical and/or plumbing, A/C / HVAC and/or general maintenance.  
  2. Level 1-2 technical certification or NESC certified. 
  3. Possession of a reliable working vehicle. 
  4. Knowledge of Industry standards, practices and regulatory requirements (including HSE/OSH)
